JHC Technology a Sponsor at HackTCNJ, at The College of New Jersey

Ewing, NJ – February 25th – JHC Technology, Inc., was one of the prime sponsors for HackTCNJ, the annual hackathon at The College of New Jersey. HackTCNJ is a 24-hour hackathon organized by the student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) where student participants collaborated to create innovative software projects. The event attracted college students from throughout the tristate area and was open to high school and middle school students as well. The hackathon included technical presentations, demonstrations, and an awards ceremony celebrating the student-built projects. Companies and organizations are invited to attend, present their technology and APIs, and work directly with the students to facilitate exploration and application building.

JHC’s CEO, Craig Atkinson, as well as Engineers and Developers attended the event, which is a chance for JHC to provide guidance and support to future graduates. JHC took part in all aspects of the Hackathon, including providing a keynote on JHC’s role within the cloud community, a critical industry for many of the HackTCNJ attendees.

“As the cloud industry continues to mature, it’s critical to find talented and trained cloud personnel,” said Atkinson. “At HackTCNJ, we get an opportunity to connect with the future stars of innovative technology, which is exactly the type of people we like to have on board with the JHC family. We are thrilled to be a part of the HackTCNJ event.”

JHC personnel were on hand throughout the day to provide HackTCNJ attendees with guidance related to cloud technology as well as the cloud industry, including career planning. JHC also worked with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate team, an AWS initiative providing training materials to students and educators, to secure AWS student accounts for free usage of cloud infrastructure for the students during the hackathon and beyond. JHC technical personnel assisted students in opening their accounts and providing a jumpstart their hackathon projects using services such as Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Simple Storage Service (S3), and Lambda, a serverless application framework. In addition, JHC’s Network Security Engineer showcased hardware devices to educate students on network and data security.

JHC personnel engaged students around market trends and career paths, along with adivce on maximizing student marketability in preparation for entering the workforce.
